Dynamics of pore formation in membranes
Seminar Room 1, Newton Institute
AbstractHow long do fluid stressed membranes last before rupture? Conversely, how high must the surface tension be to rupture a membrane? To answer these challenging questions we have developed a theoretical framework that allows description and reproduction of Dynamic Tension Spectroscopy (DTS) observations. The kinetics of membrane rupture is described as a combination of initial pore formation followed by a Brownian process of the pore radius crossing a time-dependent energy barrier.
If it doesn't, something may have gone wrong with our embedded player.
We'll get it fixed as soon as possible.
