From planar quantum mechanics to planar quantum field theory

Recently proposed simple quantum mechanical system - a distant cousin of reduced SYM_2 - has been found to have many intriguing properties analogous to the phenomena appearing in the applications of the AdS/CFT correspondence. They include: 1) solubility 2) phase transition and 3) equivalences with the Heisenberg chain and a gas of q-bosons. After briefly recalling these features, I will discuss a new application of our approach to planar field theories in two dimensions.
