Integrability and Wilson loops

Seminar Room 1, Newton Institute

I will present some exact results for the expectation values of Wilson loops in N=4 gauge theory and in AdS. One example is when considering local insertions into a Wilson loop it gives an integrable open spin-chain. Another example are some recently discovered supersymmetric Wilson loops whose expectation value seems to be related to that of Wilson loops in 2-dimensional YM, which is an exactly-soluble model.
