Microscopic integrability and strong dense fields

The microscopic limit of QCD is an integrable domain where the flavor symmetries determine the partition function uniquely. This limit gives vital information about the sign problem encountered in lattice QCD at nonzero chemical potential. Chiral symmetry breaking is linked to complex oscillations of the Dirac spectrum which takes place on the microscopic scale. The latest results obtained for the strength of the sign problem are compared with lattice data.
