Lecture 2: Concentration of measure (tutorial)
Seminar Room 1, Newton Institute
AbstractI will present an overview of the concentration of measure phenomenon, results and techniques, starting with Levy's isoperimetric inequality on the Euclidean sphere and following up with examples in other settings: Gaussian, discrete etc. I will also sketch some applications such as Dvoretzky's theorem on almost spherical sections of convex bodies and indicate some links to quantum information.
If it doesn't, something may have gone wrong with our embedded player.
We'll get it fixed as soon as possible.
