Liquid Crystal elastomers: microstructures and active shape control
Meeting Room 2, CMS
AbstractLiquid crystal elastomers are highly responsive materials thanks to their ability to switch between symmetry-related states of spontaneous distortion. We will review methods to predict their macroscopic response to applied loads and fields using the technique of quasi-convexification. In addition, we will discuss the possibilities of inducing prescribed shape changes through imprinted patterns of director orientations and/or localized actuation.
If it doesn't, something may have gone wrong with our embedded player.
We'll get it fixed as soon as possible.
