Plenary: dense granular flows down inclines

AbstractWe'll show how kinetic theory, slightly extended to include an additional length scale in the rate of collisional dissipation that is associated with clusters and/or correlated collisions, can predict the observed features of inclined flows of inelastic, frictional spheres over a rigid bumpy base in the absence of side walls and over the surface of a heap when side walls are present.
