Shear induced transitions in overdamped particle flow, ordering and thickening
Abstract: The talk will review results from simulations and experiment on the flow of large colloid particles. Of particular interest will be flow induced transitions between ordered and disordered states in close to mono-disperse systems. A few comments will be made on the potential technological importance of these effects. The simulations provide a detailed view of the mechanisms underlying these transitions, in particular how they may be controlled by tuning interparticle interactions.
