Factorial designs for cDNA microarray experiments: results and some open issues

AbstractWe consider factorial designs for cDNA microarray experiments under a baseline parametrization where the objects of interest differ from those under the more common orthogonal parametrization. Complete factorials are discussed first and some optimality results are given, including those pertaining to the saturated and nearly saturated cases. The case of models with dye-coloring effects is also covered. The technical tools include approximate theory and use of unimodular matrices. The more complex issue of fractional replication is then taken up and several open problems are indicated.
