Three colour statistical model with 'domain wall' boundary conditions

In 1970 Baxter considered the statistical three-coloring lattice model satisfying toroidal boundary conditions. He used an appropriate version of the Bethe anzats and found the partition function of the model in the thermodynamic limit. We consider the same model but with specific boundary conditions. We find a functional equation satisfied by the partition function. A similar equation for the six vertex statistical model can be solved, and its solution can be used to prove the refined alternating-sing matrix conjecture.
