Learning about fine-scale recombination rates from population data -- (undated)
Paul Fearnhead, (Lancaster University) p.fearnhead@lancaster.ac.uk
There has been considerable recent interest in understanding the way in which recombination rates vary over small physical distances, and the extent of recombination hotspots, in various genomes. Population data is informative about recombination rates over such small distances, but drawing inference from such data is challenging. We will review existing methods for estimating local recombination rates from population data; and adapt and apply these methods to the important problem of detecting and measuring recombinational hotspots.
